Making Gunslinger Girl Abridged

At least two groups have put out intros for their plans of Gunslinger Girl Abridged, though I'm not exactly ecstatic with what I see. Does anyone here want to try making a Gunslinger Girl Abridged Series? Would anyone like to see an Abridged Gunslinger Girl?

I don't get it. What groups, and abridge how?

By Abridged Series, I mean something that takes the scenes and dubs in humorous dialogue. Abridged Series often exxagerate character traits, or write the character as having a different personality than they really do. Abridged Series poke fun at plot holes, and they will usually point out the absurdity their show's premise. They don't need to be mocking; they can be funny without being rude. Here are two examples done well. Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged here and Dragonball Z Abridged here.

re-voicing GSG as a parody just seems like a recipe for disaster.. as evidenced by that horrible preview... reliance on shock humor works great for stuff like DBZ, but... with Gunslinger Girl it would need to be a little more highbrow than youtubers are generally capable of, I think.

I saw the trailer for them when they first got posted on youtube. If it's anything like Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged Series then yes!

So in other words they're giving it the "Pine Salad Productions" treatment?

Well if they get folks with the talent of Pam Buck, Missy Wilson, et. al. it could work. But based on that clip with Henrietta in bed, they didn't.

I was a bit worried by the two trailers. It looked like they were just going to remove everything but the gun-play to make it seem like all GSG is about is little girls with big guns going around murdering people.

Which is not what attracted me to the show...

Yeah, the gunplay has me pessimistic too. Which is why I asked if anyone here had the inclination and time to make a Gunslinger Girl Abridged Series. I'm reasonably sure that no one here will offer to unless they think they can do a good job. Myself, I just don't think I have the level of devotion needed, and I might be busier in the near future. Since it might be nice to see an Abridged Series of Gunslinger Girl done well, I brought it up on the boards.

These people should be dragged out kicking and screaming and then shot and left for dead. Just like I did my inner child!

I'll wait until the first episode is released before passing judgement. As it's a lampoon, the only priority is that it should be funny, so I want to see his humour in action first.

I doubt that this project is going to be nothing but gunplay - that's just the hook in the trailer (and I've swapped out secret agents for gunslinger girls in Bond opening credits in a few of my own imaginings too!). Considering that there wasn't that much battling in the anime in the first place - they spend more time training than they do fighting - it'd be a very abridged series otherwise. That trailer alone showed most of the action scenes as it is...!

The Abridged treatment worked well with titles like Yu-gi-oh and Naruto due to the absurd amount of popularity that both titles have despite how over-the-top their plotlines and characters were. But I can't picture a serious title like GSG being Abridged. It's just doomed to failure.

im a huge fan of littlekuriboh and the guys that do dbz abridged but only cause those animes r for kids and i have fond memories of them, only to find out now after watching these abridged versions they were really corny and bad..

GSG is well, good.

Having been one of those people who read the RD abridged and found them okay-but-sorely-lacking compared to originals, I would be reluctant to put my name to anything abridged of GSG. The bar would have to be pretty high for a dramatic story like GSG to be made humorous.

Dragonball was not dramatic in any way, let alone anywhere near GSG. It's just not worth it, IMO, because the story is the largest part of the entire thing.
