The GSG Videogame Storyline
In the discussion about whether the Gunslinger Girl videogame trilogy could be considered canon or not, one of the things that I was left wondering about is what exactly happens in the games. While I know that it introduces a new fratello - Ernest/Pia - and that Ernest revolts against the Agency and drags his loyal cyborg into the rebellion, there's really little else on the web - hell, entering "pia gunslinger girl" on a Google image search brings up the Welcome to Pia Carrot H-games before there's a hint of a GSG videogame screenshot!
Is there a synopsis of the games' plot available, the personalities of Ernest and Pia and any other significant characters in the games, or is it simply nothing more than "fratello rebels, recapture them, kill any Padanians in the way?"

Re: The GSG Videogame Storyline
A game is a game. Period. It never had a USA version of it, but there is a Japanese version where it was big and 3 episodes evolved from it. I'll bet dollars to pennies that if there was a USA Version of the Game, it would be more accepted as canon, and not speculated as such.
If it was not part of the canon of the series, then why develop it to be so well and intertwined?...
On YouTube, there are many player's recording their games, and posting them online.

Re: The GSG Videogame Storyline
I've heard that Ernest's motive was not an altruistic one, i.e. not motivated by any love for his cyborg or a moral objection to the Agency's activities. What I've picked up is that the guy was a Padania sleeper agent, and took Pia with him so that his cronies could open her to see what made her tick. Of course, he did not tell Pia this, and she followed him out of loyalty.

But it makes sense. Like any complex machine, the cyborgs cannot function outside their support environment. If Ernesto took Pia away, all he was going to do was ensure she died sooner rather then later due to lack of conditioning medication and maintenance only available at the SWA's medical facilities.

Thanks for posting my vid Kisk!! ^_^ If you guys want to see cut-scenes and whatnot my vids are the way to go. They're not crystal clear because I recored it with my camera, but you see the playthrough and some of the things Pia does to try and stop Henrietta. I haven't fished uploading them though.;_; Although I don't know the entire plot to games are amazing and enjoyable nonetheless.

Re: The GSG Videogame Storyline

Hammerspace, of course.
Hammerspace is the pocket dimension which accompanies all women. Strange gravitational effects exerted on the cosmic skein by the idiosyncracies of the female form distort space-time so as to generate a subatomic ouroborous loop about the woman's own person*. While it's something beyond conventional experience, nonetheless women innately understand how to access and manipulate them - thousands of generations of use have imprinted an instinctual evolutionary knowledge in their genetic memory.
Hammerspace is so named because it tends to be where anime girls conjure their comically large mallets from, but that's only a populist name (academics prefer "gynotrypa") of a scientifically-attestable phenomenom that's frequently empirally-observed in our own world. Consider - do you know what's in a woman's handbag?

Re: The GSG Videogame Storyline
I know of the transdimentional properties of a woman's purse, and I believe it to be a form of localized null-space.
However, Henrietta does not have her purse in that game shot. I think she might be using an Elite Force style pattern buffer. Her reloads are similar to the way the NPC's in Elite Force change weapons.

Re: The GSG Videogame Storyline
From what I recall of the translations (provided by Panzer I believe) the death scenes for both Ernest and Pia are pretty emotional. In other words, regardless of Ernest’s true motives, he really does care for Pia.Nachtsider wrote:I've heard that Ernest's motive was not an altruistic one, i.e. not motivated by any love for his cyborg or a moral objection to the Agency's activities.

Re: The GSG Videogame Storyline
As I've mentioned, it's all hearsay, albeit hearsay that I've been hearing lots of. Some sources mention he cared for Pia, others say he didn't. But the bit about Ernest being in cahoots with Padania is consistently stressed. But now that you mention the existence of translations, the latter might well be the truth.
Perhaps it was something along these lines. Ernest did care for Pia, and was duped by Padania into rebelling, being falsely promised that they would be protected and Pia somehow cured, while in fact all the terrorists wanted was technical info.

Yes it was very emotional. Even though I couldn't understand what they were saying it made me cry.
- Spoiler:
- Pia and Henrietta has this epic battle and when Pia's HP goes down to 0 she blows up where she and Henrietta are. Henrietta survives, but Pia is pinned under rocks, speaking her last words to Henrietta. Ernist comes along and sees Pia dead and he picks up her gun and begins to fight Henrietta. Ernist is the last boss battle. (The battle is creepy because once his HP goes down to 0 he gets back up. That keeps happening over and over. When you finally drop his HP to 0 for the last time a cutscene happens. Dying, Ernist crawls to where Pia is laying, trying to reach her and saying her name.(Names and some simple words I have come to understand) Ernist dies next to Pia.

When I heard about it I thought that Ernesto did care for Pia but believed in the Padanian cause as well, and was willing to sacrifice Pia for the freedom of the South.

Padania is fighting for the freedom of the northern Regions of Italy.
The organized crime families already control Southern Italy in the GSG world (as they pretty much do in the real one).

I've only played through the second game, but didn't Ernest die when the pillar fell on him in the train station? There was a hell of a lot of blood there, and Pia was pissed, in that terrible voice acting scream of hers.
