Here's the deal, my brother is a loser and as such dates losers. It's a law. A fact. Truth. Part of the cell theory.

His first GF was a total fuck up. She didn't drive, didn't even try in school, transfered FROM SVA TO KINGSBOROUGH (a community college) because she didn't wanna finish her school year portfolio. She also verbally abused him and made him do everything. And on top of that, she made noises. No joke. Triela used to call her "meep". She was nuts. If you asked her a simple question like, "Did you go to that new bar yet?" She would go "MEOOOOOW" or "YAAAAAK" or something equally unintelligent. It got so bad that he started to stutter and couldn't think properly. So finally, with a little support from me, he dumped her. And we all rejoiced.

Now, he has a new gf, Mary. She's plain, simple, very tall, loaded with cash, 27 to his 22, and really into botany. She likes trying new things like new foods or seeing new productions etc. She is NOT a city gal. She's from nowhere New Jersey. Pharaoh really likes her, which means she must be ok lol. And to be honest, she's sweet and generally agreeable.

Sounds to good to be true riiiight?

Aye, here's the rub. She's afraid to drive. Now my brother had lost his car and cannot afford another one. He borrows my mom's car but the drive is far and if my mom's car dies or anything we're FUCKED UP THE ASS HERE. *Sigh* I honestly have no other problems with her other than this one.

I made my brother talk to her and he made no progress cuz he's a pussy who wants to get laid. Now my mom is running outta patience and so am I because now I can't drive to work when he wants the car. He always gets the car when he wants it. He's a prick. He will take the car anyway.

My question here is, should I say something to Mary about driving here? Is it my place? I really wanna tell her to man up, especially since my mom is saying no to him lately. If they break up over this not only will my brother be heart broken, but I will be heart broken for him too. I need some manly advice, what happens if I butt in? If your sister told your GF to man up, what would you do?

I'd be more inclined to tell him to man up, get a job, and buy his own car if he feels he needs to travel that far to get laid.

Well, he is unemployed at the moment so buying a car and borrowing my moms car is stopping...
And I think some of the problem is he is still trying to get laid. Stupid little shit. He tries to hard lol.

How about this (this might sound stupid, but who knows? it might work) Since your brother can drive and she's afraid to drive, make your brother ask her to lend him the car, so he can escort her anywhere. This kinda discredit your brother so....

Well she still lives at home although she got her own Condo and will be moving in next month or so. I don't know if he would move in. I think he certainly would get a job first. Maybe he should move in. I doubt he will go to live with her empty handed.

The problem with lending the car is that she needs to drive to work and then if he uses it on weekends how will he get there first? You would have to drive there and then to get her car? It's not possible. Nor is it possible to take the train there. And damn, if she had enough money to hire a driver I think she woulda done so already.

Well Japan is a bit different in this regard then the United States (at least the US of the past few decades). Panzer's statements do reflect the more "traditional" role of Japanese men in Japanese society as I understand it from Japanese colleagues (both male and female) around my age or older.

By no means am I trying to paint the entire Japanese population with the same brush - as Tommygunner and I can both acknowledge, the idea of Japanese women being "demure and deferential in all things" is an outright lie . That being said, it has been my personal experience and my experience watching Japanese male and female friends that the man is often expected to "take the lead" in many cases, even if it is in a subtle way.

Again, this is not a blanket rule. There are plenty of exceptions and especially the past decade or so has seen Japanese women advance their own position vis-a-vis the men (especially in urban areas and the workforce) as American women have been doing for decades.

LOLZ, that's how I got my nickname in elementary school and it just kinda sorta stuck to the point that my dad one time forgot what my REAL name was. I really liked my first chemistry set for my eighth birthday. I especially liked it when I found out that you didn't have to go to a hobby store in order to get replacement chemicals. He was supposed to go into the police academy but they canceled it because of low funding. That's the main reason why he is unemployed.
And yes his GF is employed. She is 27. She's been working full time since before they met. He can't go off with the car because when it comes down to it, my mom owns the car.

This part of the conversation is really off-topic to what Cherubino is asking assistance for, but I do want to note that Japan "went Western" starting in the Meiji period and Taishō Eras (roughly the late 19th to early 20th century). Especially during the rein of Emperor Taishō, western style of dress and culture were all the rage amongst the upper classes of Japanese society.

While I realize that Samurai Champloo isn't exactly a citable source, the show does claim it was originally a Japanese thing. Also, American Indians' current problems are their own fault - there's something wrong about a culture surviving on gambling and tourism.

Business is good as it provides people with the goods to live comfortably and the means in which they need to exchange for those goods.

'Big' Business is a ruthless and barbaric realm that I make every attempt to steer clear of in every financial venture I partake.

capitalism is all well and good, but it needs to have limits.
I have a very ham-handed (but effective) solution: cap any individual's (and no, I don't count a business as an 'individual. neither should our government, but that's a whole other discussion) income at $1,000,000 per year. I don't care who you are, that's wealthy. If someone is caught moving money made in the US offshore in order to avoid taxation... revoke their citizenship on the spot, then deport them to wherever they moved their money. No coming back without a valid passport from another nation. I know that would kinda dump a bunch of our problem children on Switzerland, but I think they'd handle it better than us anyway... Their courts aren't as forgiving as ours.

The main purpose of capitalism, and I am quoting my economics text book, an economic system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners whose sole purpose is for profit. My problem with this is that it says noting about the people. Even in current America, our gov't tried stepping and and bastardized capitalism. If there is anything I have learned from life in general and from this dumb ass class is that when it comes down to economics, you simply cannot have your cake and eat it too. Either you allow the elite to survive in pure capitalism or do something right by the people, spread the wealth, and finally become socialist. Our country will slowly become socialist. It will never admit to being socialist but we are. Can't you see it around you? It all started with wellfare, social security, and making gov't funded jobs. Soon, our county will lost all of the big businesses that are trying to kill us. We will finally survive on our own and save our own.

And yes, if you haven't figured it out already, I am a socialist.

Just a brief update with the situation, I thought you would all like to know, I spoke to my stepdad about whether he thought it was my place to say something to Mary. He said that if I say anything I am just interfering and become the "bitchty little sister". So he took it on himself to talk to her. He was stuck driving her home this Sunday because my mom finally put her foot down and said he is no longer allowed to take the car just because she's around. So My stepdad got them in the car and told her she wasn't pulling her weight and he was pissed. Now, for everything my stepdad isn't (open minded, courteous, a listener, kind and forgiving), he is a SONOFABITCH. And a nasty bitch at that. He is intimidating, forward and manipulative when he needs to be. And he also NEVER shuts up. He always talks.
