OVA Subs
Got the full torrent of Il Teatrino with the OVA included, but the latter has no subs for me in VLC or MPlayer OSX. Is it a) supposed to be like this, b) that I need softsubs that I've so far not found, or c) because I am using the wrong player? What is the deal.

Re: OVA Subs
The OVAs are direct rips of the Japanese DVDs and do not have subtitles. They generally follow the events of Chapters 28 and 29.

Re: OVA Subs
It's a shame but there's no subs for that yet. Maybe at some future date, but it seems that people who normally sub shows don't have enough <3 for GSG anymore.

Re: OVA Subs
Now that ZOMG has completed -Il Teatrino- there have been requests for them to tackle the OAVs, even though they originally said they would not. So we may have some hope, there.

Re: OVA Subs
Funimation announced gaining the Il Teatrino license before the OVAs were released, but do we know whether or not they will be included along with the core series in their dub? Wikipedia mentions that Madman has acquired an OVA license, but that's only for Australian distribution, and Madman's website states that they're releasing the entire series and not just the OVAs.
YouTube clips indicate that the OVA episodes are pretty much straight adaptations of Chapters 28 and 29 of the manga, plus a few extra gunfights to pad out running time - if worst comes to the worst you could watch it with Vol. 6 open on your lap and you'd be able to follow things reasonably enough.

Re: OVA Subs
Well he's right, if you're read those chapters and if you've seen enough anime, you should know a good chunk of words by now. Maybe you won't get 50% but you know what's being said (from the most part) from the manga chapters.
If that's all we have, it's better than nothing.

Re: OVA Subs
Are you saying there haven't been any English subs for those OVA up till very now then? I watched it with Russian subs some months ago already and taking into account almost all the Russian subs are [English --> Russian] translated ones, that's really weird...

Correct.

This English-subbed OAV is based on the Russian-subbed one. The person translated the Russian subtitles into English and then applied them to the Japanese DVD rip.

My God, that's truly surprising. Had I known the way of things earlier I'd have translated that into English myself, for I'm a fansubber too.Kiskaloo wrote:Cryingvoid wrote:Are you saying there haven't been any English subs for those OVA up till very now then?

Your welcome. Me and Baki are the one's that help put it together.
He did all the translating from Russian to English.
Then sent me the subs so i can edit the font style and placement of the subs.

Yeah, he said it took him awhile to do, but your mostly right.
I just took the subs after i was done with them, and embedded them to the RAW [QTS]
I have been working for it awhile to add the subs for the lyrics too.
I'm going to try to use text sub effects with the lyrics. Still working on it.
I also had uploaded it here too.
I will post updates for the subs WITH the lyrics on this thread also.

I ordered mine from Right Stuff this time. They say it will ship on Dec.1st, but so does Amazon. Hopefully RS will get it out earlier, like they did with Il Teatrino.Triela wrote:Subs won't matter any more soon!! =D
PS: This might sound kind of stupid, but that trailer was the first time I ever hear Yu’s name pronounced. All this time I had it wrong.

Hey sianish, if you can't view subs on vlc, try getting KMPlayer, we may have downloaded from the same torrent and KMPlayer was able to read the subs.

Just got my OVA today. Right Stuff released it almost 3 weeks early.
I’ve only watched Fantasma so far, but was really impressed. Of course it does give you the impression that Enrica is a real ghost as opposed to a dream, which is a little bizarre.

As for 'The Light of Venice, the Darkness of the Heart', if you are a Rico fan it’s a must see. I’ve always liked her, but now I LOVE her. It’s easily her best anime performance.
