OC Halloween Party Costumes

With the popularity of Halloween, almost any nation you know gets to celebrate it. Italy, for one, celebrates it, although they are not totally excited about it.
In Naples, Halloween is looked at only as All Soul's day and All Saint's Day and not so much fun is attached to this event - unlike in the United States. The event is not even named Halloween. But a few Italian people get to observe the Americanized Halloween. So, how else is the tradition treated?
In celebrating the Italian Halloween, every household should have an Ossa dei Morti gracing the table. This is a cake shaped like a bean and baked solely for the purpose of observing Halloween. This is called the Beans of the Dead, which is popularly practiced throughout Naples.
While preparing for the Beans of the Dead, Naples natives gather for a feast. The feast is observed on All Soul's Day where you can expect bountiful meals on every table, they believe, for the living and the souls of the dearly departed to partake.
Once everything on the table is set with all the meals and the cake, families would then go to the church to pray for the souls of their dead family members and relatives. While going to church, most people leave their houses open, believing that they welcome the souls into their houses to take part with the feast they have prepared.
If the family comes home where meals are not eaten, this means that the souls will inflict their household with bad luck in the years to come. Unconsumed food means that the spirits did not like their home.
During All Saint's Day, catholic families also go to church to pray for the martyrs and saints, paying them honor. Nowadays, families also visit the graves of their loved ones to clean up the area and offering flowers, wreaths, and small lanterns. For the devout, a mass is celebrated on the grave site at times. This is actually a popular Catholic practice all over the world.
Unlike in the US, Halloween in Naples, Italy is not really for the kids to have fun. Italians take this as a time to reflect and remember the lives of their dearly beloved that have crossed the afterlife. This means that there are no tricks and treats for the children to enjoy. However, it is the adult who gets to enjoy the occasion by wearing masks as part of some sort of a Carnival.
