Second time I've been Rick-Rolled by a trailer (the first being for "A.I. - Artificial Intelligence").

That being said, it was shot in 70mm IMAX so if the Boeing Theater at the Pacific Science Theater gets it, I shall buy a ticket.

Well, I was wrong.

It was Contact...and 2001: A Space Odyssey...and The Abyss.

It was pretty darn astounding, actually.

I believe Interstellar is from the same storycrafters that gave us Contact.  I liked it, but didn't find it life-changing like some other reviewers.

As for the Star Wars trailer, if it didn't have bloody X-Wings, I'm sure the collective fandom would have binned it instantly.  JJA didn't exactly endear himself to sci.fi fans with ST:ID.

That's just the trailer, wait 12 months and you won't be able to see them anymore due to the lens flare that post production will add on !

Frozen

Better than Tangled, but not quite up to the level of Wreck It Ralph. Kristen Bell was fantastic as the voice of Anna, who replaces Jasmine as my favorite Disney princess.

Maleficent

Totally ret-cons Sleeping Beauty and I am 100% okay with that. IMO, easily the best live-action adaption of an animated Disney property.

Just saw Avengers 2 age of ultron and it was epic.  Was it the best or tighest story telling, well I'm not a movie critic so I can't say.  What I can say though is that it entertains from beginning to end, humor, explosions, punches to the face, boobs, and more.

I found it to be rushed and cool-driven.  The visuals are beautiful, but that's pretty much a given these days.  There are some good scenes that show glimpses of characterization, but that's pretty much a given with Joss Whedon. Smile

My problem is that I didn't really care about Quicksilver or Scarlet Witch.  I enjoyed James Spader's Ultron trying to out-funny Tom Hiddleston's Loki, but there wasn't the bond between Stark and Ultron that there was between Thor and Loki.  In short, I felt like there wasn't very much at stake.

The Stan Lee cameo was hilarious, of course.

Agreed but it gave me what I was looking for and that was an escape after a long week at work, so I am happy.  Plus I only paid like 4 bucks for the ticket, got to eat at 1 decent and 1 good restaurant.

Seriously, I doff my hat to David Sandberg. As a fan of MST3K, I know bad 1980s sci-fi movies and he perfectly captured the cheesiness, but then used it to make awesome sauce. The special touches like you’re watching a bad VHS tape and the video game side-scrolling shooter montage when Kung Fury first starts fighting the Nazis was brilliant.

The HD download is only USD5 so it was an easy buy to support this fellow’s work.

Be nice if they can revitalize the Star Wars movie franchise like the did the Bond one: by going back to its roots and embracing realism and craftsmanship in writing and staging.

Try to imagine Daniel Craig duking it out with a giant with steel teeth aboard a de-orbiting space station, eh?

With Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool, it should be at least entertaining. Just watch him in Blade: Trinity to see what I mean.

In other movie news I saw Creed a few weeks ago and I found it to be a very enjoyable movie overall. The plot progression was slow but steady and the climax hit me just like a Rocky movie should (except for 5...we don't ever mention 5). When the kids start yelling in the theatre, "Get him Adonis! Knock him out Adonis!" I couldn't help but smile as I remembered my memories of watching my first Rocky movie, Rocky 4.

Saw the Deadpool movie yesterday and yes...yes it was as excellent and well made in the spirit of Deadpool as a Deadpool movie should be...dammit.

HOWEVER!!!!

I must say this loud and clear that "Kickass" this is not! Kickass simply has hoards of gratuitous violence which I personally like as a good thing...and so do my nieces. I have absolutely no problems showing my nieces gratuitous fictional violence, I do however draw the line at sex and nudity because I figure they're going to get PLENTY! of that shit when they enter into HS.

So no point in soiling their young minds with so much as boner jokes when the youth of the nation will do that for me and most likely in MUCH more comedic context. So...yeah. Go watch it, take your family, take your friends, it's a damn good time, just whatever you do leave the children at home with a MLP: FIM marathon or something.

I didn't spoil anything. Even if I wanted to discuss the movie, I would state that the post contained spoilers.

Dunno. I never thought much of the Moore-era bond films, but maybe that was the terrible writing. The Craig reboot gave me such high hopes for the franchise, but it seems to have fallen under the same curse as the Star Trek films: every other one is unwatchable.

Mario Bossi would make a better handler than Marco Toni. Come to think of it, so would Christiano.
.
Elizaveta didn't jump - she was pushed.
.
Sofia was pregnant. It would have been a boy.
.
John Doe faked his own death - twice.
