...can't think of anything else to call it... just think of this thread as the 'Random Media' of this section... with anything else BL related anyone feels like posting. So it's kinda like the old spam thread, too.

Okie dokie, it's time for...drum roll please...BOOMER'S ANIME ASSESSMENTS!!

Now let's see har; I think I'll start by saying I absolutely luved the Black Lagoon anime. It was just awesome.

I will state here though that I was inspired to go out and buy the damned thing as opposed to downloading it due to the "Fucking Short Version". Yes, I wanted to hear cussing in the English vernacular and LOTS of it.

So without further adu, my favorite Black Lagoon Moments by episode!
In order to make sure this post isn't too long; I'll post season 1 now and season 2 later.

Episode 1: Rock getting shot at
As far as first episodes go, this is pretty damn good. The fact that Revy emptied a magazine at Rock without hitting him made me laugh so hard at both Revy and Rock, especially Rock. Little did I know that Rock's luck would become a central theme, and it's funny every time he gets out of...stuff.

Episode 2: "You just got fucked!"
Rock's transformation is as epic as it is hilarious. If I'd heard this quote a lot earlier in my life it probably would've become my catch phrase instead of my current one. "You just got owned, bitch!"

Episode 3: Revy's awesome skills
Although Revy had displayed her talents earlier in the series, it was the moment when she singlehandedly destroyed Luak's crew and his fleet that convinced me that Revy was the real deal; an authentic modern-day gunfighter.

Episode 4: Rock's whining
I admit it, I love whiner's. They're just so much fun to laugh at. I laughed watching Yumeria, the Darkstalkers saturday morning show(anybody remember that?), and especially at Shinji in Evangelion. The fact that this is pretty much the last episode that Rock actually whines consistantly is pretty much like the flame burning brightest before it burns out.

Episode 5: The Nazi 'fight' song
Although the action in the submarine was beyond intense, the tearful acknoledgemnt of the officer going down to the sub in order to retrieve the painting is what made this episode interesting. All throughout the episode I was hoping he would give him another tearful omage. This scene deserves to be in the top whatever in WTF moments in Anime.

Episode 6: The SS doublecross
This moment symbolized the essence of the term OWNED. With Alfred, the SS officer on the phone, taunting and insulting Dutch, while the Nazi commander just knows he's fucked. When Revy hands him an empty gun, it was just icing on the cake. Definitely a noteworthy WTF.

Episode 7: The Smoking Kiss
This episode was full-on LOL. Whether it's Balalaika editing porn, Revy and Eda in a Mexican standoff(or Sicilian standoff if you prefer), Rock owning Yolanda with words alone, or Revy cursing to relieve her boredom; this episode is one you must see twice to get the full effect. With such an episode as this, it is really easy to mess up the ending; but it is pulled off to an amazing degree. Despite that their lips never touched, it really didn't matter. Their emotions were all in their eyes. It must have been one interesting cell stay after that.

Episode 8: Revy's interesting child-rearing skills
After this scene, it is safe to say that Revy is on the pill whenever it is possible to obtain them. When Dutch sends Rock i there, I just had to say, "Aww, leave her in there!" Remembering this scene made it real easy for me to believe Revy's intent oward Hansel and Gretel later in Season 2.

Episode 9: Revy gets fucked up
When someone asks, "How do you stop someone like Revy?", remember this episode. That is how you stop someone like Revy, with nothing less than an RPG fired at damn-near point-blank. With the others vain attempts to wake up Revy, I couldn't help but appreciate Roberta that much more.

Episode 10: The brawl to settle it all
Although it might be nothing new, the fight between Revy and Roberta was nothing less than a PPV event. Those two messing each other up until dawn, especially when Rock gets his head bitten off by both at the same time. Absolute LOL.

Episode 11: May the force be with you
Although Rock getting captured was LOL-worthy, Chang's choice of an initial password was just ridiculous. Hearing the password made me say, "Oh come on!" Finding out later that the password was intentionally idiot-worthy made Chang stand out in my mind.

Episode 12: Fucking Leigarch
This guy may be a master driver, but the fact that doing drugs makes him a better driver is just beyond logic. After the Jimi Hendrix rant, I just about hit the floor and looked forward to every hallucination up until the Playmate Army where I actually did hit the floor.

I also love the Playmate Army scene myself too.

Nah, he's just stoned. that cigarette he was smoking wasn't a regular cigarette. it had weed in it as well.

lol later on in the manga shenhua told revy he is in hospital cuz he went to mars and cant come back lol...

also, I'm pretty sure it wasn't just weed (yaaay laced joints)... that guy was trippin' balls.

The English dub of Black Lagoon is one of the best I've ever heard, (which not might say much because I try to watch most anime dubbed ) However, I despite that I think it's still fair to say it is superior to the Japanese voice acting.

I can only hope that when the 3rd season comes out that they keep the same dub cast, though I'm starting to doubt it will be the case. Since Geneon USA is no more, so the the rights to dubbing has been given to another company (Funimation I believe...) we'll have to see.
