The Kriss submachine gun can fit in a messenger bag... no reason to see why it can't be modified to fit a briefcase.

The kriss is probably a little bit too wide to fit into your average, hard-side briefcase. The cool thing about the MP5K briefcase was that it was designed to be fired within the case if necessary. Otherwise, briefcases aren't my favorite thing. I mean, why have it in a briefcase when you can keep even a large SMG like an MP5K on your person?

Monty: The intention of verbage is to avoid a firefight to begin with, this is precisely the sort of short-sighted, one track thinking I've come to expect from the SWA.Officer_Charon wrote:John: *evenly* True enough, lass, but in a firefight, it's damned hard to use verbage to stop someone.
This actually comes up in the next chapter or so of J+M: that Monty leaves things out of her reports of spins them as she's concerned that the Agency will drop a bunch of its cyborg storm troopers on the heads of her information sources... to trample all over them in their hobnail boots.

The difference is... walk around with a briefcase loaded with delicate and scandalous documents, you're now a high priority assassination target. Carry a briefcase with a gun and it's the other direction, a harder target, aye?

Absolutely agreed...John_234 wrote:The difference is... walk around with a briefcase loaded with delicate and scandalous documents, you're now a high priority assassination target. Carry a briefcase with a gun and it's the other direction, a harder target, aye?
...however, actually carrying the documents for any period of time herself, or trying to take them by force? Officially classified by Monty as "somebody else's problem".
Perhaps slightly hypocritical on her part after the recent "one track thinking" comment, but hey: that's Monty "Do As I Say, Not As I Do" Blacker for you.

Perhaps not so much "leave out" as "creatively postpone notification"... one of the nice things about the vaguaries of intelligence work is that it's resonably easy for Monty to justify witholding information untill it "can be confirmed within a resonable margin of doubt". Which essentially means: untill she and Jethro have decided they've got all they can from that particular source.Officer_Charon wrote:Oooh... leaving stuff out of reports? There is a limit to how small you can make the physics package of a nuclear device and have it generate any kind of yield.
The W54 was the smallest nuclear weapon deployed by the US and it measured 10.75 inches diameter (270 mm) with a length of 15.7 inches (400 mm) and a weight of 50 pounds (23 kg). The US has tested smaller versions, however their yield was under 200 tons and the weight was close to 100 pounds.
The H-912 transport container for the Mk-54 SADM (using the W54 warhead) was about the size of a large rucksack. The Russian equivalent was about the size of a mini-fridge.

The Spanish CETME Ameli is basically a low-cost 5.56mm version of the 7.62mm MG3 belt-fed machine gun that Rico uses. The Ameli strips down into 7 components (including a 100-round ammunition box) and these parts will fit inside a standard briefcase. The weapon can be assembled, loaded, and fired within 20 seconds of opening the case.

That's a myth, actually, though of course it would depend on how close those Soviet tank divisions got before you fired, as a nuclear weapon needed the authorisation of the President of the United States to fire! Though I doubt the man on the spot would bother waiting...
John_234 wrote:The MP5K emperor was talking about can be fired without opening the case
I know. It depends whether you're planning an ambush, or worried about walking into one.
Anyway the fact that Rico was already familiar with a similar model was interesting. I could easily see it happening in canon, including the requisite Weapons Assembling montage.

At a SHOT show last year or year before, MagPul showed off a folding SMG . The whole thing folds up and can fit into a large pocket (like on cargo pants), and flips out in one motion to be about the size of a full-size Uzi. Vid here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnOw_0PmqdM&NR=1[/youtube]

if you can take the weapon apart then a lot of weapons an be made to fit i.e. the stock or barrel can be cut down

What about the Armalite then? Can be broken down while maintaining the zero of the weapon - one of the reasons the IRA found it so useful.

I'd personally go with my disassembled AR15 pistol variant with a 10 inch barrel and Eotech sight. It just takes two pins to snap the upper/lower receiver together. The 5.56x45 "green tip" round isn't perfect, but a rifle round is a rifle round nevertheless!

Re: What else apart from MP5 can hide in briefcase?
Burst fire pistols are just insanely stupid, IMHO.
The Glock 18C is indeed marketed to military types, but being a pistol you have a hard time hitting anything. Most people try to put a stock on it for the PDW type role, which is really redundant when we have modern PDWs like the PP-2000, MP7 and such. It's worth noting that the burst fire handguns out there - the VP-70 and the 93r primarily, both had stocks they were frequently utilized with. Then you have the Stechkin, which uses a holster-stock like the Mauser C96. It was more used as a big semi-automatic, though.
EDIT: To clarify, I don't really like fully automatic pistols, but it makes more sense than burst fire.
