I figured since we now have an entire forum devoted to SW, I thought it might be nice to start a Strike Witches 1991 thread devoted exclusively to the characters (of which there are an awful lot). I intend to post future updates here as well as maintain alist of the characters on danbooru (aside from ones who have only appeared in things like the uniform charts thus far).

Yea. His art is getting better and better. He is compiling alot of 1991 Witches, not that I have any complains. Hopefully someone can translate the artist's comments.

I remain amazed that these imageboard people haven't thought of retaining some bilingual members as regular translators, ready to perform their jobs at a moment's notice. For a bilingual person, deciphering the text should be chicken feed - it should take only as long as it requires to read the untranslated text.

I really dig Yuko. The bow is a bit odd, but a rought translation of her profile using google seems to indicate that it's quite effective when used in conjunction with her magic.

All the new and revised profiles Ogitsune is putting up make me a bit tempted to try to snag a translator and send him a few ideas I've had, particularly a Gallian Navy witch who might compliment Rosalie rather well when he redoes her profile.

Oh snap. This is the first time seeing him do Ground Witches and a good job too. And I gotta agree with you, piero, out of the four I like Yuko the most. And odd as the bow may be, it somehow seems logical in my opinion since the Japanese think of bowing more as an art than a sport. Yuko gives me a sorta noble look with the bow there.

One of the things I like about Strike Witches 1991 is that the vast majority of the characters are sixteen or older.

Nathalie is based on a suggestion I sent with the help of a translator. The artist drew her based on a preliminary "do you think you'd like to do this concept" description I sent before I had a chance to send a more detailed description of her, so I'm hoping to convince him to make a few changes to her description, namely expanding her history and personality and changing her Striker from a Super Etendard to a F-8 (I had a F-8 in mind when I suggested she use a heavy machine gun -the F8 was nicknamed "The Last Gunfighter" because it mounted four 20mm cannons at a time when fighter guns were seen as being on their way out).

As for Rosalie, she was around well before I started making suggestions to the artist, but she seems to look better every time he draws her. I actually rather like her despite the fact that I wasn't too fond of Perrine (its worth noting however that her description indicates she has a much nicer personality than Perrine did).

I dont think there is a fan fiction associated with them. I beleive it is more of a fan art project but Piero knows more than I do

Strike Witches 1991 seems to be largely a character/world building exercise, though the main artist (the one who started it and did all the images I've linked to in this thread) has done some rough black and white sketches of various scenes from the Gulf campaign. I haven't brought those over to Danbooru though.

If you're looking for something more story driven check out the lead artist's other project, the Strike Witches 1940: Battle of Britannia doujin.
