Re: Awesome products.
Not so much a product as a recipie.
Backstory: at my flatmate's work yesterday the watercooler discussion went to how you could make lasagne more awesome. The eventually decision was that the only way to make lasagne more awesome would be for it to be in pie-format.
Hence when I got home last night there was ingredients in the fridge to make lasagne-pie.
I wish I had a photo, it was fantastic... it's lasagne, that you can pick up and eat and wrapped in puff-pastry. Best served cold so it all stays together.

I found a place (run by Russians - go figure) who make lasagna with alfredo sauce instead of marinara.

Smash apparently wrote it out for one of his workmates, so it's sitting in an email somewhere on his work computer. He'll send it through on monday or whenever he's next in the office.Officer_Charon wrote:Don't suppose you have that recipe, do you Alfisti? Might be worth surprising my wife with that one.
The short version however pretty much runs to: get pie dish. Put pie base in pie dish. Create lasagne inside pie base following usual lasagne making procedure (though it's probably worth cooking the meat component down a little more than usual so it hangs together when you cut a slice out). Close with puff pastry (however much you want, we found three sheets seemed to work well) instead of lasagne sheet. We also reccomend cutting out a bit in the middle and sprinkling cheese on it so you get all the tasty-crispy-cheesy-ness of normal lasagne. Bake in oven till puff-pastry is done. Serve hot or cold, works great as a cold lunch.

LASAGNE PIE:
Ok, so Smash had to go into work...
Ok, so Smash had to go into work...
- Spoiler:
- Ingredients:
puff pastry (I used 3 sheets possibly two next time? and maybe shortcrust for the base?)
fresh lasagne sheets (I had to use cannelloni sheets)
500g of mince
1 onion
garlic - about 4 cloves
1 small jar bolognaise sauce (could use a bigger one but it would require more time to reduce the sauce to an appropriate thickness for lasagne)
1 jar béchamel sauce
1 large amount of cheese
some spray oil
I used a small cake tin and a frypan for the cooking.
1. preheat oven to 200 degrees, put deep frypan/large saucepan on high heat
2. oil pan, chop onions and brown
3. when soft add the mince and brown
4. get puff pastry out to defrost
5. chop and add garlic. add it and the bolognaise sauce. let it heat up, shouldn't take long and its the about the right consistency straight away
6. spray the tin and put one sheet in and push into corners. put another in at 45 degree angle and push into corners. (I'm considering just cutting out a circular base and some strips for the sides next time)
7. layer the lasagne inside the pie (tomato, lasagne sheet, béchamel) I managed to get 3 sets of layers
8. cheese the top of the lasagne bit
9. put the third sheet on top (I cut a hole in the middle so that there was still some of the browned cheese action on top)
10. smoosh the edges together so it seals (could be neat but meh)
11. bake for about 25 minutes
12. om nom nom

Here's another...
Sure it lacks brakes (is the skeleton foreshadowing the fate of the rider?) but it appears to be single-speed so it should gain Alfisti's Hipster Stamp of Approval.

First iteration of Lasagna Pie a la OC was a modest success... needed more seasoning, and I messed up, because the pie dish I used was too small, but I chalk it up to a learning experience, and will do better next time. Ta for the recipe, Alfisti!

Death fixie certainly gets the seal of approval... guessing it's a fixie by the lack of brakes as technically you should be able to control speed by stopping the pedals. That said, even I consider not having at least a front brake to be erring on the suicidal.Professor Voodoo wrote:

Ah yes... probs should have mentioned that you'd be wanting a somewhat deep pie dish.Officer_Charon wrote:First iteration of Lasagna Pie a la OC was a modest success... needed

That's an actual cross-section of a Claymore - it's filled with ball bearings. The one from the Jackass video is it's less-lethal cousin.
The "slugs" are just containers, marked with the gauge of the ball-bearings inside.
I'm not certain about the grenade - I'm not AWARE of any AP grenades like that, but I suppose it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Recieved a set of these in the mail from Qantas:
I love Qantas' domestic check-in setup for frequent flyers. It's an RFID chip in the tag, and one in your card. So: check in on your iPhone on the way to the airport. Scan frequent flyer card at airport, dump any check-in baggage you have with a Q-bag tag on the carousel, it'll read the RFID chip and send it to the right plane... walk through security, present card as boarding pass, walk onto aeroplane.
Pity I rarely carry check-in luggage.

Just a heads-up, but The Right Stuff is six days into their "12 Days of Christmas" special and they're running some very deep discounts (upwards of 60%) on some "forum favorite" anime of the past year or so, including Ga-Rei Zero, Canaan, Toradora!, Night Raid, Eden of the East, Nyan Koi!, Darker Than Black, the new AMG TV series and RideBack, as well as older series like FLCL and FMP.

Some days ago, on saturday, i visited the core of our town (Bielefeld in Germany) and look what i found there:
The most awesome thing for the kitchen. A "must-have" for all knife-thrower cyborgs or handlers.
I guess even Emilie would love this, to display her knives in a very beautyful way.
Lol, If the knives are included, I'm gonna by it myself as a present for christmas.
